      Arye Oded (born ) is a retired Israeli diplomat, scholar, and author of books and research articles about Africa - Israel relations, Islam, and Judaism in Africa.. Oded is currently a Research Fellow at the Abba Eban Centre for Israeli Diplomacy of the Hebrew University's Truman Institute in Jerusalem. In this book, Governor Wilson is quoted on P saying the British colonialists' dream was to confine Islam to Sudan and have Uganda become a centre for Christianity in East and central Africa.

In order to live an Islamic life, believers must follow the five pillars, or tenets, of Islam, which are the testimony of faith (shahada), daily prayer (salah), giving alms (zakah), fasting during Ramadan (sawm), and the pilgrimage to Mecca (hajj).
